How To Get Screen Recording To Work Using PCXS2 Emulator (PS2 Emulator).
The problem: You try to use the built-in screen recorder in PCSX2 to record game footage but you get an error saying you're missing a short list of mpeg .dll files. The error likely says, "Failed to load FFmpeg."
The Solution: Follow these simple steps.
1. Search Google for "ffmpeg dll download for pcsx2" then look for the search result from the domain pcsx2.net with the page title "Windows Setup."
The Google Search: https://lmgtfy.app/?q=ffmpeg+dll+download+for+pcsx2
The desired search result: https://pcsx2.net/docs/setup/windows/
This page explains what is missing and where to put it when you find it. Now, let's find it so we can start using the native screen recorder built into the PCSX2 emulator.
2. Download and install the latest x64 Visual C++ runtime distribution here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-microsoft-visual-c-redistributable-version
3. Download the required (page says optional, but for me they are required) FFmpeg libraries from here: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2-windows-dependencies/releases/download/FFMPEG/ffmpeglibs-7.0.2.7z
4. Extract the .zip file, then place the extracted .dll files in your PCSX2 folder. They should be in the same folder as the main PCSX2 .exe file.
At this point, YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED, you just need to load up your favorite game and start capturing video. The default hotkey for video capture start/stop is F12. Keep in mind this will be lossless, uncompressed video being recorded. The file has a high nitrate and the size will be large. The tradeoff for saving such large video captures is that the recourses uses very little resources which means your frame rate, even on low end hardware, likely won't drop while recording.
If you prefer a visual to help you get video capture going for PCSX2, I found the following tutorial video helpful. It's brief and straightforward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZgrsU8_b3s
